What We Learned

kc newsletter march 17 pic 5.jpg

This past Sunday was Easter Sunday! Easter is the day we are reminded of Jesus’ resurrection! Up to this point Jesus was spreading the good news and a lot of what he was saying was pointing to the fact that he is God. The pharisees did not like this and claimed this to be blasphemy. From this point on the pharisees searched for a way to get to Jesus and kill him and they eventually found one. Judas betrayed Jesus and this made Jesus sad even though he knew what was going to happen. When they took Jesus before a Roman governor named Pontius Pilate, he could not find any reason to crucify Him. But because the Pharisees had stirred up the crowd, they demanded He be crucified anyways. Jesus’ death on the cross had to be the most heartbreaking thing in the world for His followers. Remember, as we talked about last week, most of His followers thought He was going to walk into Jerusalem and overthrow the Roman rulers. So His death was a shock to everyone; everyone except Him. Jesus had planned to die for us all along because we needed a perfect sacrifice for our sins. And since God is the only perfect being, He came down to Earth as a human named Jesus and became the perfect sacrifice. But then He did something else only God can do: raise Himself from the dead.

Jesus Connection

Jesus’ resurrection changed everything! Not only did it prove that Jesus is God, just as He claimed, but it also showed His followers that they had nothing to fear. If they followed Him, He could defeat anything in their lives, even sin and death!
