What We Learned
Last week we heard the story of Noah and how God rescued Him from the flood by having him build an ark. Well after that Noah’s family continued to grow. His kids had kids. And those kids had more kids. And those kids had even more kids! Finally there were a lot of people on the earth again. The people lived in a plain called Shinar, and they all spoke the same language. The people wanted to build a city and a tower that reached all the way into the heavens. The problem was that the people were building all of this for themselves and to glorify themselves; not for the glory of God. In order to stop this, God changed everyone’s language which caused major confusion and thus put the construction to a halt. The hearts of the people became so prideful that they thought they could actually build their way to heaven! God knew that if He didn’t discipline His people, they would fall deeper and deeper into sin. That’s not what God wants! He wants us to know Him and glorify Him, because only He is worthy of our glory
Because of their sin, God scattered the people and confused them so they no longer spoke the same language. But in the end times, we see that the people God from every nation and language join together to give God praise. Because Jesus sacrifice for our sins, we can join in this celebration if we place our faith in Him.
