What We Learned

This week's lesson was on Noah and the ark he built when the great flood occurred. There was a lot of violence and evil, but not a lot of good people to protect the innocent. So God decided to punish evil by flooding the Earth and all the evil people in it. But Noah was not like the rest. The Bible says he was a righteous man, not like the others. So God punishes the people of the world for their sin by sending a flood. But even though he is punishing mankind, he still chooses to be gracious by allowing Noah and his family to live. Now Noah may not have done the bad things other people of his time did, but he sinned just like everyone else and deserved to be punished as well. But instead God chose to show mercy and allowed Noah to survive. One thing we have to remember is that in order for Noah to have received God’s mercy, he had to trust God and be willing to build the ark. If he hadn’t, he would have ended up as fish food just like everyone else. It was God’s grace that saved him, but it was Noah’s faith that allowed him to accept that gift.

Jesus Connection

It was God’s grace that saved him, but it was Noah’s faith that allowed him to accept that gift. When Jesus came to Earth, He died for our sins so we get to be with God forever. However, we cannot receive that gift if we do not first place our trust and faith in Christ.
