Big Picture Question:

What We Learned

We continued this past Sunday in our Genesis series! Today's story was about the life of Cain and Abel. We learned today about what it means to have pure intentions and to be generous with our possessions (since they don't really belong to us). Both Cain and Abel presented the land's produce to the Lord but the difference was the Abel gave the lord his best offering while Cain gave the lord some of the lower quality parts of the produce. The Lord knows our intentions even though others can't see it and Cain was no exception. Abel was generous and loving towards God and it showed through what he was willing to offer up to the Lord. Cain in his envy, anger and jealousy took his brother, Abel, to the fields and killed him! So God banished Cain, but not before promising to protect him. Even though He took His brother’s life, God was merciful and did not take Cain’s.

Jesus Connection

Jesus often talked to people about what was in their heart without them telling Him. But just like with Cain, even though the people had sinful hearts, He still chose love to them.
