Big Picture Question:
Whose image did God make us in? His Own image!
What We Learned
Today we continued in our Genesis series and we learned today what it means when we say that we are created in the image of God. To be made in the image of God means that there is no problem, no issue, no blemish, etc. The problem was when sin was introduced to the world then that image got distorted. And there was a punishment for distorting the image of God. But then God had a plan in mind to fix this. His plan was to send his son, Jesus to live a perfect life on earth so that he could then take the punishment of all sins that exist and die for us (because that is how much he loved us). Because of Jesus' death and resurrection the image in God can be restored through faith in Jesus as our savior!
God created us in his image from the beginning but sin messed up that image. So God decided to come to Earth as a human to restore that image. Jesus lived a perfect life to set an example of living as a person made in the image of God. He then took the blame for our sin so that we can one day live in the restored image of God through Jesus (by placing our faith in him)
